For true fashionistas and social media addicts here comes a breaking new product from Facebook: a shade of nail polish named “Social Butterfly Blue,” the social network’s first branded product currently only available at the brand campus store in Menlo Park, California. The package design is pretty much simplistic and ordinary with an icon of a butterfly on it, so neither Facebook logo or Facebook name appears on the bottle.

The product has attracted the attention via a picture posted on Twitter by Huffington Post executive tech editor Bianca Bosker, and the story was picked up by Mashable. So, if you want to purchase this product, you’ll have to visit the shop in person to pick up your Facebook blue polish as no online orders are currently available (bottles cost around $5).
What do you think about this way of expanding the brand’s reign? Do you think that Facebook is doing a good job by promoting and selling rather unconventional products for a digital brand?
