Vin Cider – A Classic Ripoff? by David Brbaklic

Not long ago, a new brand was launched in Serbia by a  large winery called “Coka”. The winery produces mainly cheap wines, and some other cheap alcoholic beverages. A company not worth mentioning, you might think. Well, we thought that too, until the new brand under the name “Vin Cider” was launched – the new drink turned out to be a ripoff of the famous Somersby cider brand. A cheaply executed one, though. Simple as that. Not to get too much into analysis of the product, we’ll let the images speak for themselves:

While the design agency in charge (if one was even commissioned) would probably defend themselves with just being inspired by the Somersby brand, we think this is just a complete disgrace for the profession. The implementation of the apple tree into the design was a step too far, don’t you think?

Is there a proper “punishment” for such a crime? Or they modified the original just enough to get away with the inspiration story? Leave us your opinion in the comment area below.
Meanwhile, take a look at Somersby’s classy label redesign.
