Peter Voser, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell talks with the IBM Institute for Business Value about strategic partnerships, and how companies shouldn’t work alone on innovations anymore. ‘Open innovation’ is a term he mentioned a couple of times. He says that companies can no longer build innovation in isolation, and must developed business models with partners and share visions of their innovations if they want to succeed in the longer run.
Royal Dutch Shell (or just Shell) is the fifth largest company in the world (and the second-largest energy company). They have a whole part of their website dedicated just to innovation, from finding new energy sources, care for the environment to smarter people and goods transport. They also have a free iPad INSIDE ENERGY innovation app with interactive content from which you can learn about new energy sources, technology and meet the folks behind all this innovation.
