Virgin Atlantic Launches A Branded Lip Gloss by Katarina Radovic

We could expect a lot of different business undertaking from Virgin company, but never a Virgin Atlantic lip gloss line. A guess is that this was a missing part besides all Virgin’s core business areas. It’s just a one color lip gloss, called Upper Class Red, in their signature red color. It seems that the whole idea came from the company’s goal to become the most glamorous airline. For this innovation the company has teamed up with a cosmetics producer bareMinerals to launch the first lip gloss produced by an airline and promoted by Virgin Atlantic hostess Vanessa White.

“It’s a really bluey-red, and the bluey-reds suit all skin tones. Red hot lips have always been a trademark of our cabin crew, signifying the strength and confidence they embody,” said Rebecca Creer, senior spas and grooming manager at Virgin Atlantic.

“What sets Virgin Atlantic cabin crew apart from everybody else is fantastic customer service and that iconic red lipstick. This spring we’re launching our new Upper Class cabin and to mark this we’ve worked with Bare Minerals on a great new lip colour,” said Mim Allgood, Virgin Atlantic grooming manager.

As a part of the Upper Class Red promotion, all upper class passengers will be given a sample as a welcome gift on the A330 plane from London to New York. Otherwise it can be bought for £15. I really can’t see anything glamorous because the regular red color, a hostess model and packaging design seem so common and boring.  Even with their whole concept of traveling red and glamour, I think this still seems ridiculous and not so cheap for an ‘airline’ lip gloss.
