In its efforts to bring quality coffee and espresso to its customers, Starbucks has launched a new coffeemaker, dubbed Verismo. A brand’s first, Verismo combines Starbucks’ famous Espresso Roast and drink recipes with Swiss engineering and complex high pressure extraction capability, making customers enjoy their Starbucks-like drinks.
The venture with the german-based Krueger GmbH & Co. KG will allow Starbucks to market and sell the Verismo coffeemaker together with 100% arabica coffee and milk pods at select retail stores, specialty retailers across U.S., in select international markets and online starting later this year.
“The premium single-cup segment is the fastest-growing business within the global coffee industry,” said Howard Schultz, Starbucks chairman, president and CEO. ”We have long believed that the biggest prize within the segment is a high-pressure system that would give us the opportunity to deliver Starbucks-quality espresso beverages at home and at work for customers who desire the Starbucks espresso experience outside of our stores.”
“The combination of Starbucks coffee authority and our technology and development expertise will enable Starbucks to deliver the quality and taste expectations in the cup that millions of people all over the world have come to expect from Starbucks,” said Marc Krueger, member of the Krueger GmbH & Co. KG management board.
Starbucks thinks that this move will contribute to a richer portfolio of premium single cup alternatives. While there is no word on pricing and availability yet, be sure to check out Verismo’s official web page to follow up on the latest news.
