In 1998 Leonardo DiCaprio and his family have founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation with aim to support efforts to secure a sustainable future, “dedicated to people, animals and the planet”. Foundation’s latest project is creating a new coffee brand called Lyon in collaboration with the world-renowned coffee roasting company La Colombe. One-hundred percent of the net profit from the coffee sales will be donated to benefit causes, supported by this foundation.
The Lyon coffee bag description explains that it was “created to be the most ethically responsible and the best tasting coffee in the world, using beans sourced from farms practicing sustainable farming principles regions where our purchases make the greatest positive environmental, financial and humanitarian impact.” Leonardo DiCaprio commented that raising awareness on the most pressing environmental issues of our time is more important than ever.
I am thrilled to be a part of this new project with La Colombe that will help aid the shift to a truly sustainable future for the planet and its inhabitants.

Todd Carmichael, CEO and Co-Founder of La Colombe commented that coffee employs over 100 million people worldwide, most of which is slash and burn and sold cheaply:
Sustainable coffee – specifically, coffee that is traded above fair prices and grown using earth conscious methods – not only adds much needed global biodiversity, but provides support for millions of families and communities in the developing world.
I think this is a great idea to help and get involved, because it is so simple to be a part of it. Everyone drinks coffee, than why not drink the one that makes a difference? Lyon has become available for purchase this month in Williams Sonoma stores nationwide, La Colombe Cafes and select Whole Foods, and you can also buy it online.
