Coca-Cola Brand “Pay It Forward” Campaign
How to inspire young African Americans to take an active role in allowing today’s youth to become tomorrow’s history makers? Offer them a once in a lifetime 5 day apprenticeship with some of today’s history makers.
Coca-Cola celebrates Black history being made today by launching an online contest for African American teens age 16-19 for a chance to win a 5 day apprenticeship with Grammy Award-winner and philanthropist Ne-Yo, fashion designer Tracy Reese or Essence president Michelle Ebanks.

Kimberly Paige, assistant vice president, African American Marketing Group, Coca-Cola North America said “‘Coca-Cola Pay It Forward’ charges each of us with the responsibility to advance the next generation. We strongly encourage moms and dads to participate in the mission – simply by nominating their teens for the unique apprenticeship experiences. We also invite the rest of the country to pay it forward to young people in their homes and communities – helping them to achieve their education and career goals this Black History Month and beyond.”
Parents and teens can nominate their children/friends/themselves HERE, and the four teens that “moms approve” or “teens endorse” will spend their week in New York or Atlanta and shadow their mentor. In addition to this national movement, Coca-Cola will also provide local opportunities in Atlanta, Memphis, Detroit, Birmingham and Chicago.
To achieve top class education and get tutored by the industries experts is every teens dream. Young people are the makers of tomorrow and are shaping the future as we now it, heck, look at us (shameless self promotion).
A nice gesture by Coca-Cola, and all the best to all the contestants.
