Police in southern Floridaare trying to crack a real Sherlock Holmes mystery: How did a life-sized Lego man wash up on Siesta Key beach in Florida on Tuesday?

Apparently, a man was taking a morning stroll down the beach when he came across “something” laying in the surf a ways away. Well, what do you know, it was a GIANT, 8 foot, 100 pound Lego man.  He dragged it to shore and stood it up to read “NO REAL THAN YOU ARE” on the front and “EGO LEONARD” with the number “8″ on the back. I wonder if the artist is “setting them free” to be found, but what does he think he is trying to say with that message? Maybe he is trying to disclose a campaign “Free Lego”, or trying to bring out some things concerning politics, globalization, like Banksy does. Some suggested it may have been a publicity stunt from Lego Land inWinter Haven, nearly two hours away. That theory has since been refuted; Lego Land’s spokesperson has verified that the Siesta Key Beach Lego man is not endorsed by the company.

This man is probably an escapee from nearby Lego Land: underpaid, overworked, unappreciated no doubt. Not so long ago, I found the homepage (maybe) for the guy who apparently owned it, maybe even created it. Oddly enough his name is Ego Leonard, the same name depicted on the giant Lego man. Now it may be possible to build a website in a day, but the flash on his site has so much detail, thus I do not believe he made it post the Lego man appearance, also it mentions the other “Lego men” appearing in other locations.

I say mail him a fine for littering. Just joking.

I think the message was suppose to be something like “No MORE real than you are”. That’s why it’s life-sized. So some misanthrope wanted to get a point across about how plastic he thinks we are. Without spiritual self awareness ,without humanity…or maybe I’m reading in too deep.

I’ve overheard that the authorities are questioning the Michelin Man as someone of interest. The rightful owner of the Florida Lego man has 90 days to claim him from Sarasota police.

I wonder if they handcuffed him…

When you say that the lego man came in pieces, did you mean that in a way like they did with the Statue of Liberty?
